There is a lot that happens on multiple levels during a sound healing session. The effects can be felt physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. One’s consciousness expands and awareness increases. The changes within us vibrationally can be felt by others even if on an unconscious level. Thus, your newly ‘tuned up’ vibrations will undoubtedly affect your life experiences and relationships. Your vibration is more stable and consistent after a sound healing session which means you are broadcasting more of a coherent signal to those around you. So your point of attraction is more harmoniously resonant and emitting with more clarity. 


It’s a basic law of resonance in physics. That which you resonate, you attract. So in support of attracting the highest and best for yourself and getting the most out of your session, I have compiled several self-care suggestions based on experience and research. Doing what you can to follow the highly recommended guidelines explained below will help you release and clear away all that you are ready to let go for the most benevolent outcome. These suggestions will aid in facilitating energetic shifts after the session in support of the transformative process that has already been set in motion. The positive intention that we set together in the session was very powerful. This intention for positive change in the highest and best way will continue to ripple out into all aspects of your life for days to come. 


Water, Water and More Water
During your sound healing session, toxins and other draining energies were released from the organs, tissues, and cells. So it’s best to flush the body system with additional water (i.e. drink a lot!) for several days following your session. Cleansing drinks such as lemon water, activated charcoal in water, or a splash of apple cider vinegar in water are also beneficial. Rinsing off after a session is also a must-do. If you have access to a bathtub, then bathing in epsom salts is a very beneficial way to further detoxify and integrate. A coffee scrub or bentonite clay body mask also works similarly by clearing any residual energies and drawing out toxins.


Essential Oils
A few drops of essential oils such as lavender, geranium, or balancing blends added to the bathwater can help support the transformative process. While essential oils can be used on the physical body, they additionally work on us vibrationally at an emotional, mental, and spiritual level as well. If you decide to use essential oils on the body, I suggest applying them to the feet.*Please note that it is best to dilute essential oils in a carrier oil (such as fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil) when applying directly to the skin in order to avoid skin sensitivities!  The oils are quickly absorbed into our body through the feet and circulated throughout the body in a matter of seconds. As you rub them into the soles of your feet you are activating the reflexology points which are directly connected to the organs. This is basically a fast track hotline to address any specific areas of the body that may need a bit more attention and nurturing support.

What Your Body Needs
Tune into how your body feels and what it needs. If you’re tired, then please honor that and rest. Rest throughout the day as needed and make time in your schedule for a full night’s sleep.

This is very important. If you feel the need to move, then respect that as well. Perhaps go for a walk, dance, swim, or do moderate exercise.

Swimming in the sea or in a pool is great for transmuting energies. Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong are also very complimentary activities.

A gentle body massage with an experienced massage therapist can also be helpful to further relieve tension and integrate your new vibrational state.



Clearing Residual Energies
Here in Bali, we encourage attending a water ritual at a local temple or sacred waterfall. I personally love Tirta Empul and Sebatu Waterfall. This helps in the purification process and releasing negative/unsupportive energies. After a remote session, I recommend burning white sage to clear the room/space where you received the session. Also clear the energy around your body (auric field). It’s important to use the power of intention with the sage smoke to efficiently remove any remaining negative or unsupportive energies. This brings about a sense of spaciousness and lightness to the subtle energy bodies and leaves us feeling noticeably more at ease.

Replay
After a session, it is very common to feel noticeably lighter and joyful. A multitude of positive sensations and emotions can be felt. Some even experience profound stillness within and a stronger connection to Source. It is possible to maintain these higher states of being and still experience them long after the concluding ting shas resound. We all have most likely experienced the power of music to trigger elevated states of being and evoke a nostalgic sensory replay. One has the ability to tune back into the deep sense of peace or other positive state felt after the sound bath simply by remembering the experience.

Studies have shown that when someone recalls a sound/tone/music/experience, the same ‘feel good’ brain chemistry from the original experience is released again within the body and similar parts of the brain are activated. So we have the power to transport ourselves back into that blissful soundscape and peaceful afterglow whenever we choose.

Possible After-effects
Healing and deep transformations are not always happy-go-jolly fun. The days after the actual session can be quite dynamically intense for some. Hang in there, if this is your personal experience. It will never be more than you can handle. If your session was particularly powerful then it’s possible that you may feel some body aches the next day. It’s like after receiving a strong body massage that goes very deep into muscle tissue that hasn’t been worked on in a while, or perhaps never in such a dynamic way.

Often we feel sore the next day or two after this type of deep tissue massage. It’s the same with a vibrational massage from a powerful sound healing experience. If we haven’t addressed the tightness in the body, which often stems from memories of past experiences, emotions, traumas, struggles, stress that are held in the tissue, then it can sometimes be quite painful when we finally do address and release them.

Moving Through Your Emotions
In the week following your session, emotions can arise suddenly and sometimes seemingly ‘out of the blue.’ E-motion is ultimately energy in motion, neither good, nor bad really. However, we humans typically like to judge them, some of us can get stuck in them. However, it’s best to observe them and allow them to surface and move through without attachment or judgment. Please know that it can take several days to fully integrate the vibrations and effects of the session. There is no standard time frame.This varies from one individual to another. Sometimes it can be a week or more that people experience emotional releases and finally feel settled and completely aligned. When emotions are allowed to be there and freely move through as they naturally do, without us trying to reduce the intensity or control them, they can fully transmute. Often one receives deeper insights and understanding about aspects of oneself through this process. 

Follow-up Session
If you find particularly amplified discomfort during the integration process or more stuff is coming up for you following a session then perhaps a follow-up session would be advised. Depending upon the individual circumstances, the follow-up session can focus on easing the transition and integration by supporting the free flow of energy. If more has come to the surface after a session that you would like to address, then we can certainly focus on another layer or aspect of self. These sessions always meet us perfectly where we are at in the moment and address what we are willing to let go and release at that particular time. 

By simply witnessing the shifts and changes, as if you have an aerial perspective of yourself, then you will step out of the way and allow the vibrations ‘play out’ and the higher universal intelligence orchestrate the rest. Focus on what is different and what is new rather than what was felt before and previous experiences. You may gain an even deeper understanding and awareness of self through the holistic integration process. 

We are growing and expanding together. Sometimes we contract a bit before we take a giant quantum leap forward. We can uncover that which has been hidden from our awareness and remove barriers/blocks that have been holding us back from reaching our full potential. We can gain access to more of our life force as we let go of more and more. Our electric body’s battery literally gets recharged when we release that which was draining us and holding us back. As a result, we can live our lives in new ways, creating more of the good stuff and what we truly desire.
